In Brief / March 2009

The great thing about the Web is immediacy. You can find anything you want, along with an interesting and huge variety of things you don’t want.

The great thing about magazines is — strange as it may sound — their technology. Think about it: You’re holding an amazing device. You never have to load software, protect it from viruses, reboot it, or even plug it in. And you never have to wait for a page to load. You don’t have chaff, you have editors — real people who know what you want, do the selecting for you, and check the facts. If magazines were just invented, experts would be crowing about this cool new contrivance.

Starting with this issue, we redesigned US Airways magazine to merge the best of both technologies: the immediacy of the Web and the convenience and quality of print magazines.

Our business analysis now comes straight from the Harvard Business Review and its incomparable entrepreneurs and expert writers and bloggers.

For our monthly cover story, we recruited April White, one of the top magazine reporter-journalists in the business.

For most of the rest, we selected an assortment of the blogosphere’s best — the brightest, most informed, and often funniest cognoscenti of sports, music, wine, health, fashion, travel, and more. We checked all the facts, so you can be assured of accuracy. And we printed the results on this amazing next-gen device, the redesigned US Airways magazine.

Email us (edit@usairwaysmag.com) and tell us what you think — we’d like to know your favorite sites and blogs.

To prime the pump, here are some of our favorites. After all, sharing is what the Web is all about. And it’s what magazines have done all along.
