Charlotte

Doors slamming shut and the sound of footsteps in the attic are just a few of the oddities that have been reported at Latta Plantation. It’s said that the ghosts of the original owners still haunt this former cotton plantation that dates to the early 1800s. Experience it for yourself October 17–18 at Ghost Tales in the Dark and on late-night ghost walks October 24–25. You’ll hear spooky tales of haunted happenings, witches in the kitchen, and goblins in the gardens. Haunted tours start at $7 per person.

Beaufort

By day, Beaufort is a picturesque historic town on the coast. At night, it turns into a haunted playground. Blackbeard used to live here, and the locals say he often visits Hammock House, his former home. Sign up for a guided ghost walk and listen to chilling tales of murderous pirates while you stroll to Hammock House and a 300-year-old cemetery. Ghost walks are offered year round. The cost is $15 per person.

Raleigh

Mordecai House is an antebellum plantation that’s been called Raleigh’s most haunted house. The SciFi Channel filmed an episode of Ghost Hunters at the home. Follow in their footsteps October 24–25 during Haunted Mordecai. Events include a discussion between paranormal researchers who are on hand to discuss their findings; lantern tours of the historic home; and trolley rides to a haunted cemetery and other ghoulish sites in Raleigh.
