Lots of us might balk at paying $35 for a ticket to see the latest blockbuster, but an evening at Gold Class Cinema, opening this month just outside Chicago, is anything but an ordinary night at the movies. Designed to resemble exclusive director’s screening rooms, each auditorium seats a maximum of 40 people in plush recliners. Moviegoers can order from a menu of freshly prepared seasonal dishes, signature cocktails, and fine wines. A call button on each chair summons a server who’s ready to refill your glass or popcorn bowl, or even bring you a blanket if you’re chilly. The first U.S. location is in the Chicago suburb of South Barrington, and a second one is set to open later this year in Redmond, Washington. Gold Class Cinemas plans to open another 50 theaters across the country over the next five years. Learn more at goldclasscinemas.com.
