What's Inside

FLY WITH US. READ WITH KIDS.

ON FEBRUARY 29, 2008, US AIRWAYS launched a new partnership — the first of its kind for an airline — with Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), the oldest and largest children’s and family nonprofit literacy organization in the U.S. Founded in 1966, RIF prepares and motivates children to read by delivering free books and literacy resources to those children and families who need them most.

Reading, much like travel, is an adventure and a way to explore new worlds. Data show that a love of reading, and the ability to read well, provide children with a better foundation for academic and economic success and help change lives for the better.

To celebrate the joy of reading and kick off our new partnership with RIF during the month of March, US Airways will provide a complimentary children’s book, Come Fly With Maisy, by best-selling author Lucy Cousins, for passengers flying on a domestic US Airways flight to take, share, and enjoy with a child. It’s yours to keep and we hope you and a child will have fun reading this book on your flight today or wherever your travels take you.

US Airways will also provide more than 80,000 books to more than 25,000 children served by RIF programs throughout the country this year. Through community volunteers in every state and U.S. territory, RIF provides nearly 5 million children with 16 million new, free books and literacy resources each year. The Do Crew, US Airways’ 3,300-member employee volunteer corps, will team up with local RIF programs to distribute books and conduct reading rallies to help children in the communities US Airways serves foster a lifelong love of reading.

Additionally, we’re hosting the Read with Kids Challenge, which encourages customers and employees to read with young children just a few minutes each day during March, April, and May as part of a campaign to log a total of one million minutes read.

I hope you’ll join me in participating in the Read with Kids Challenge and help support RIF’s mission to help all children discover the adventure, wonder, and fun of reading. You can enter to win prizes from US Airways — including a family vacation to Walt Disney World ® Resort and free, roundtrip airfare — by going online and tracking the time you spend reading with children. To join the Read with Kids Challenge visit www.RIF.org.

On behalf of the 36,000 employees of US Airways, thank you for flying with us today. We hope to see you again soon.
